Barfield School and Three Peaks Camps
Current Procedures for Swine Flu
You may have heard that, as of late last week, the UK Health Protection Agency (HPA) has changed its swine flu strategy from 'containment' to 'treatment'. As a result, GPs will diagnose cases on the basis of symptoms rather than laboratory testing. We have amended our guidelines for participants at camps and employees accordingly, and include the new guidelines below.
BARFIELD SCHOOL AND THREE PEAKS ARE TAKING PRECAUTIONS TO MINIMISE THE SPREAD OF SWINE FLU

- We are enforcing an exclusion policy for those with, or suspected of having, swine flu
- We are raising hygiene awareness with a leaflet campaign - please don't underestimate the value of maintaining good hygiene

BARFIELD SCHOOL THREE PEAKS CAMPS - GUIDELINES IN INSTANCES RELATING TO SWINE FLU
Following the HPA's advice:
- If you have been confirmed as having swine flu, you should only attend camps /return to work when your symptoms have gone.
- If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms*, contact Three Peaks Camps/The School, stay at home, avoid contact with other people, and phone your doctor or NHS Direct on 0845 4647. From now on suspected cases of swine flu will be diagnosed over the phone. Only return when your symptoms have gone.
*Swine flu symptoms are similar to those of seasonal flu and include:
Sudden fever or sudden cough
